    Default Minor Misdemeanor Drug Possession

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Ohio.

Recently my friend and I were caught after smoking by the police. We were both charged with minor misdemeanors of drug possession (weed). My question is will my school be notified of this? Also, would it affect my chances of getting into national honors society, scholarships, getting a job, etc.?

    Thanks in advance.

I don't know the full context of your charge, or the policies of your local police department. Either could affect whether your school learns of the offense.

A criminal conviction can affect your future. Juvenile dispositions are less likely to have a significant impact. For a first offense, you would want to explore the opportunity of a deferral.

How old are you and are you charged as an adult or as a juvenile?

    Ohio Revised Code 2925.11:

    (D) Arrest or conviction for a minor misdemeanor violation of this section does not constitute a criminal record and need not be reported by the person so arrested or convicted in response to any inquiries about the person’s criminal record, including any inquiries contained in any application for employment, license, or other right or privilege, or made in connection with the person’s appearance as a witness.

You won't have a criminal record, so therefore, you have no record to be publically viewed by anyone, school or employer.
