Got a question to got with this thread.
Background: I was an employee of Walmart in Tulsa, OK and was caught walking out of the store with merchandise. I was told to come back on a later day which I did and at that time was arrested by the police and taken downtown for the processing through the county jail. I was there in a general holding cell for only about 2 hours and then released. Later that week, I meet with a man in his office (not sure if it was a judge or someone else) and I recall paying a fine and doing a week of community service. On to my question. This all happened in 1999 and I had just turned 18. I am now trying to enlist in the military and they are holding up on this because there is no record of this happening. They (and I) have contacted both city and county courts and there is no record of a charge. Now, I will note that the county court did have a record for that year (1999) but it showed up as NF for 'Not Filed'. Does this mean that I was never charged with anything? We double checked and there is nothing else showing a charge but this does not explain the fine ($500) and the community service (30 hours). I would seem that if I had to pay and do community service then there would be some sort of record of me being charged with something. Does anyone have any insight on this. I need as much info as possible so I can take this to the military. The biggest question I need answered is if I was charged how do I find out if it was a misdemeanor or a felony. Thanks for you time.
