My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: New York
I defaulted on my student loan because my disposable income did not allow me to make monthly payments. I am a Non-U.S. citizen, have not worked in the U.S. since I graduated and I am not planning to live in the U.S. in the future. I was contacted by phone by a debt collection agency in the country I currently live, a EU-member state. What are the legal actions they can take against me if I ignore them?
Nowhere is explained what are the consequences for you, if your disposable income is very low, you do not own property to sell, you do not have any assets, you cannot get a loan from another bank and you do not live in the U.S.
