My question involves criminal law for the state of: Florida
I was involved in a situation where a friend of mine was being hit by another friend and I stepped in to stop it. I put the friend that was hitting my other friend up against a wall and held her by her throat until the bouncers at the club came to alleviate the situation.
She is claiming that she has cracked ribs from me putting her against the wall. She hasn't pressed charges as far as I am aware. I spoke with the officer that night that was at the club and the bouncers. They asked my friend that was hit if she wanted to press charges but she declined because we were friends and the girl was drunk.
I have evidence that she hit my friend and witnesses that will confirm what happened. I would like to know if eventhough I was defending my friend if the other friend would have grounds to press charges if she has bruises on her neck or cracked ribs (I highly doubt the cracked ribs) and how long she has to pursue charges if she chooses to do so.
