My question involves an eviction in the state of: California
I moved out of a property in June of 2006 and in February of 2009 an unlawful detainer was filed against me. My understanding is that the tenant at the time stopped paying rent and that the real estate company managing the building had serious organization issues.
When I moved out, other tenants took over the apartment. They signed leases to do so, and my lease expired.
Now there is record of me losing a case in the court of Pasadena and it is affecting my ability to rent. I was not made aware of the case at the time.
The real estate company was the plaintiff in the case. They are being unhelpful and I'm skeptical of their abilities to confirm who was their tenant at the time of eviction. What can I do?
Thank you.
