My sister was tried and convicted of larceny or embezzlement a few years back. She served some time (in CA) and was released on probabtion and ordered to pay restitution. Well, apparently she did not pay anything to date and missed meetings with her PO. She has now been ordered to appear in court for sentencing next week. (I don't know the full details of everything, just getting information second hand through Mom.)

Well, my sister seems to think she is going to pack up and leave the state and that she only has to wait three years for the statute of limitations to expire. I have tried to tell her there is no SOL since she was already convicted of the crime, AND in violation of her probation. Won't a bench warrant be issued for her arrest if she does not show up to court? And also, once a warrant is issued, it never goes away, correct?

Please help, I am trying to get her to do the right thing. She has three young children who need their mother, and runnning away is not going to help anything.

Thank you!
