Default Roommate Never Paid Full Deposit and Ran Off - What Can I Do

My question involves a roommate in the State of: California

My roommate never paid the full deposit and ran off overseas. My landlord charged us for cleaning services and repair and deducted her share from our deposit. The roommate said she was going to send checks to us but never did. What legal options can I pursue? She is eventually coming back to the States. The amounts she deducted were pretty substantial to me and worth pursuing legal action.

When she comes back to California you can sue her in small claims court.
