My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: California
I am a student in college. I got rather drunk one night and when I returned to my dorm I was vomiting and unable to walk straight. My friends, fearing alcohol poisoning, called an ambulance. By the time the ambulance arrived, I was able to answer the paramedics coherently (I am not relying only on my memory, but on the official account of the dorm authorities) and they determined I did not need to be taken to the hospital, and left. 2 months later, I received a bill from my medical insurance company, Kaiser, for $460 for "ambulance transportation." Can I really be charged for transportation if the ambulance did not transport me anywhere?
