Question J1 Visa Holder Overstayed, Married to Citizen - Can I Get a Job

    So here is my situation.
I came to the USA third time on J-1, and married US citizen. My visa expired in the end of Aug 2010 (2 year subject doesn't apply). Right now we looking for co-sponsor (because my wife doesn't make enough) to proceed our papers. And I found a good job, can I work under my SSN that I got while I was on J-1?
My other question is: Would I have problems with immigration or would that effect me and my interview...? I told my employer that I will get my work permit in few months, and they ok with that...so far if I provide my valid SSN (the one that I got while was on J-1) now. I didn't claim that I am US citizen or Green Card holder obviously.
    Thank you.

You are out-of-status, have not petitioned to adjust your status, and do not have employment authorization? Then no, you cannot legally obtain employment. As you have surely figured out, yes, working unlawfully can affect you in future immigration proceedings.
