My question involves a driver's license issued by the State of: Oregon & Indiana
I have a HUGE issue and I hope someone can help. I have spoken with multiple lawyers in both states. I have a suspension in Oregon for refusing a blood test (1 year suspension until June 2011). I WOULD be eligible for hardship permit in Oregon IF I still lived there. I moved to Indiana b/c I lost my job. Now, I can't get any privileges b/c I moved from one state to the other. Indiana said that I could get driving privileges if Oregon granted them to me...but I can't get Oregon to do that because I'm not a resident.
Here is my question, and a lawyer in Oregon advised me to try this: has anyone been successful at in-person contact with the DMV to plead their case? I have gone through the administrative hearings, etc. and, basically, the lawyer I spoke with said that it's not a legal issue anymore but a policy issue. He suggested I try to speak with someone at DMV directly and have suspension somehow transferred to Indiana. He said that only the sympathy of the DMV could help me.
I am having a hard time finding a job in Indiana and when I do find one that is in in my field, I must have some type of driving privileges. I am doing everything by the book with my case and have been stopped by bureaucratic red tape. If I WERE still a resident of Oregon, this would be a non-issue but it did not make any sense for me to stay there after I lost my job.
Can anyone shed any light on this for me? I am at my wits end and this could potentially cost me future earnings. Please help!
