Default 17 Turning 18 Soon. Can I Leave if I Like, or if I Am Told to

I am 17 years old and will be 18 in 5 months residing in maryland. I am doing well in school and found a job for myself. I had to stop working because I had posted a status on a social network saying that I couldn't wait oot get out of the house and my legal guardian got upset. My parents are currently overseas. The reason why I got so upset because my legal guardian is a control freak who has to have a decision in every aspect of my life. I am constantly being yelled at for trivial reasons. I do mess up every now and then, but I am human. I found the job myself, I take myself to and from work, but yet she refuses to let me be. I plan on attending college next year, and college applications cost money, along with me losing out on thousands of dollars during the that I am not working. I am at the point where I will start to do what I want, without being disrespectful or harming anyone. My question is, if I decide to leave, or she tells me to leave, will I or anyone who provides me shelter be in trouble? Even If I update my parents about my whereabouts and that I am ok?

Well, the reality is that your legal guardian DOES have the right to make decisions in just about every area of your life.

    Right up until you're 18.

Your parents are not your legal guardians, so they don't honestly enter the picture. If you do leave, sometimes the cops will refuse to send a 17 year old home. But sometimes they will, and the DA can charge whomever is harboring you with one or more crimes.

The bottom line is that you cannot be guaranteed of being allowed to leave home until you are ACTUALLY 18. Not just near 18.
