    Default Guardianship and Medi-Cal

My question involves adoption law for the State of: California

In the state of CA, would giving someone (a non-relative) guardianship rights of a child prevent the legal parent from receiving Medi-Cal benefits?

You're talking about benefits through WIC? For a child for whom you have given up custody and are not supporting?

Medi-cal is state sponsored health insurance, I think. I know that it is different than WIC. You'd probably have to reapply without claiming any dependents and from that point it would depend on your income level, etc. If you have "healthy family" Medi-Cal I would imagine that it would no longer apply to you. Not sure, but I do know that you'd need to report the change or risk commiting fraud.
