Default I Was Hit from Behind and Still Cited

My question involves a traffic accident in the State of: Massachusetts

My question involves traffic court in the State of: Massachusetts

I was hit from behind on the highway. The left hand lane was closed, and was yielding to the right hand lane. I was driving in the right hand lane and was hit on driver's back side of my car.

After being harrased by the State Police, swore at and intimidated with arrest, I was cited for Marked Lanes Violation and Car in Stopping violation. When I was hit, the driver sped off and I followed him. I detail Trooper finally noticed what was happening, and proceeded to pull me over, the other driver was in front me...yet the Trooper ignored this fact (he had a Thin Blue Police sticker on his window).

How am I at fault, when I was hit from behind?

You were at fault because just because you were the victim of hit and run doesn't mean you can go around violating the traffic laws trying to chase down the person who hit you.

flyingron, I could have been a little clearer here. The violation of marked lanes and failure to care in stopping stemmed from the accident, not my "vigilante-like" pursuit after the driver.

I was cited with M.G.L. 84-4A “Marked Lanes Viol [sic]” and 720 CMR 9.06 “Care In Stopping.”
