My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: NY
I took a position at a corporate gym in the month of august. I have some pending charges involving possession of stolen property and grand larceny. The company ran a background check post hire and then terminated me a week later because of my pending charges. I have NO convictions for ANYTHING as of now.
I recently found out that the same exact location that I was working for has a trainer there that was convicted of murdering a child (via gunshot) and served 17 years in jail. Within 1 year of release, he was hired by the same gym. Do I have a case here? If not, is it worth giving the corporate office a call and speaking to them about it?
PS: The manager at the gym itself liked me alot. He said he came in that morning and my name was removed from the computer and he had an internal message that I was terminated from corporate. So they have no problem with me at the gym itself.
