Default Failure to Yield Right of Way on a Left Turn

My question involves a traffic accident in the State of: Texas. I was making a left turn on a green light (no arrow) and though I thought I was in the clear;I was not and I was hit by another car (that I did not see) that had the right of way. No one was injured but me and mine are minor. What I want to know is if I plead nolo contendre which means I will be found guilty but not be admitting guilt; what happens to my record. I have never even had a speeding ticket before and I am concerned about how this will affect me in the future. I doubt entering a plea of not guilty would be advisable; as I can't afford a lawyer at present or additional court costs. Any information would be helpful. Thank you in advance

There's no guarantee that the court will accept a no contest plea. If it does, it's treated in the same manner as a guilty plea, except it is of less use to the other driver than a guilty plea if they sue you over the accident. You should see if you can get the charge deferred. (You're charged with a Class C Misdemeanor, correct?)

I have no idea. I have never had a speeding ticket. I understand what pleading no contest means as far as civil litigation goes. No one else was injured thankfully, and minimal damage was done to the other car. I am able to pay the fine of $175.00 online through the court's website; if I do that it is an automatic plea of no contest. I am really upset over the whole ordeal and I am just trying to make sure I don't screw things up more than they are. I'm a single mother, I am all my kid has.

The citation I received states under Violations: Did unlawfully commit the following Offense(s), in violation of state statue.
