My question involves criminal law for the state of: NC
so i was caught stealing about $60 worth of some arts and crafts from walmart to make in memory neclaces and bracelets for friends and family for a death that had recently happend..yes, i know im stupid please you dont have to remind me.. But anyways they had me sign a few thing the guy said it was just about being banned from walmart.. They called the cops and i had to wait till they came since i cooperated they gave me a citation for a court date to show up in about a month ... right before they let me go they handed me the citation and walmart handed me a paper and i just wanted to get out of there and leave ... after i started reading the paper walmart gave me its about a fine i have to pay with one month of $150.00..i id open a few things up so i guess i may have done maybe $1.00 or less worth of damage.. Ive looked up online were people usually get the fine but don't get the cops involved and press charges..
I do plan on paying this fine regardless because it says if i dont it can go up to $1500.00 .... But what dose the fine actually mean do you think if i pay it they will drop the charges in court?
im just really kicking myself you know were as i have 3 warrants i have to clear up in MA and 1 happens to be a petty shoplifting charge also and i missed a court date here in NC for a bad tag ..no im not making excuses but i didnt even know what a license plate tag was as we don't have them in MA .. but since Ive been in NC for about 8 months and had my license/name ran by police a few times my warrants don't show up ..
Is it possible that i may go to court and they may just drop the charges if i pay the fine and not look up if i have warrants in other states? ...also the police known every time they ran my name im from MA...
im still thinking i need a lawyer for this one
