My question involves traffic court in the State of: California
Hello,
I was cited back in June for not putting my registration sticker on my license plate. I forgot to send in proof of correction and the $25 fee, and now I got a notice saying that the court has placed a hold on my license for failure to appear. The bail amount on this notice is for $831, less a $300 "assessment fee" if I pay the fine within 10 days.
When I look up my citation on the LA Superior Court website, it says I can either pay $531 right now, or schedule a court date. My questions is, if I go to court, will I still have to pay the $531, or will I just need to pay the $25 fee and provide proof of correction? It seems a bit extreme to charge $531 for a citation that was only $25 to begin with. What are my options?
Thank you for your help!
