Quote Quoting Mr. Knowitall

What do you believe your wife has done that might be illegal? If you believe you should have present access to certain marital assets, or if she holds items of your separate property, bring an appropriate motion before the court. If that's the situation and you don't know how to prepare or file motions, you need to rethink representing yourself.

You should see if you can find a lawyer who will accept payment out of the settlement of the marital estate.
OK thank you. No lawyer will touch this for a deferred payment, trust me on that. I have tried everyone, in both private and public practice in this area, and been given the same tale by all. No funds left in public agencies to help abused or destitute individuals any more. No chance whatever of a private attorney accepting a deferred fee. None. Nobody suggests that I haven't been abused and caused appalling distress, but they either cannot touch the case because they aren't allowed to any more, or won't touch it because there's no money to be had up front. Never mind. I'm sure you're right and I should not be trying to take care of myself, but I have no choices. Thanks anyway.
