Default New Photo Speed Inforcement in California

My question involves a speeding ticket from the State of: CA

This is not like the red light camera?

Today in San Jose CA. I saw a pair of officer with what appears to be Binocular like devices in their hands. They were both on foot. There was a motorcycle parked in someones drive way and the other had a cruiser parked around the block.

I drove pass them then I parked the car somewhere were they cannot see me and walked toward them.

I ask them if there were trying to catch speeders they said yes. I ask them if they got radar there they pointed to their binocular devices? I thought they we saying they are taking pictures (not sure). They did not look like they were getting ready to pull anyone over. Are they just pulling my leg. Or are they pulling over speeders (it is just that I did not see them do it). Because like I said did not look like they were getting ready to pull anyone over.

Anybody heard of cops(not machines) taking pictures of speeders and sending tickets in the mail.

    It was a laser.

The officer looks through one end and points it at a reflective part on a vehicle i.e. license plate or reflector in a taillight/front corner light and the laser bounces off the reflective part back to the laser gun in return getting an accurate speed reading.

And no they don't mail you that ticket, the patrol car around the corner will come out and pull the speeder over and issue a ticket.

    For spotting donuts.

Had they seen any, they'd have taken off immediately.

No such thing in California... There have been a few attempts at passing bills that would legalize speed cameras. Nothing passed. I'm sure they'll keep trying...

Those officers were yanking your chain!
