    Default Shoplifted But Not Stopped

    I am from Michigan

I shoplifted an item from wal-mart last night, ~$30, got out of the store with it, but as I was leaving 2 people out of uniform (Who were employees, had the lanyard around their necks, one with a radio device), were looking at me suspiciously..

I came back around 30-40 minutes later to see if cops were called as I was freaking out, but didn't see one.. and stuck around for a bit to see if any were coming (I was a decent distance away but I am positive none came).

I've been freaking out, and won't be doing it again, but I'm curious how probable it would be for them to call the cops at a later time, or how likely it is for an event to occur that would result in my arrest?

    Thank you

Criminals always return to the scene of the crime?

I would avoid this Wal*Mart in the future. While you may have gotten away with it, the LP folks there may be watching for you on subsequent visits.

Most likely reviewing the CCTV and trying get an ID.

At the very least, they got a great profile shot when you walked right past the door jamb camera. They'll probably show your picture at the next employee meeting and file a police report after they figure out what you took.

...and before you ask, yes, they CAN still send the police to come fetch you, no, we don't know if they WILL and we can't give you any "odds" or "chances" on that, and stay out of that WalMart or you face being nabbed.

Avoid that WalMart, as already mentioned. And all local WalMarts. There's a very good chance that in addition to LP circulating your pic at the next meeting - your pic may also be hanging by the employee timeclocks.

Just curious, what is the usual course of action for a police report? And by that I mean, after making it, what would the police do?

The police would pass the info along to the Prosecutor; and likely an arrest warrant would be issued.

Definately, keep out of Dodge! I have a similar experience and the state police came to my home to deliver a "ticket" 2 weeks later.
