    Question Was I 'officially' terminated?

The company I worked for has a 30 day resignation policy. I turned in my resignation on 5/13; had arranged that my last day would be 6/8 instead of 6/12 so I could attend my grandchilds first birthday party in AZ.

This morning, the administrator walks in my office, tells me 'it's not working out, you may leave'. When I ask if I'm being terminated, she says 'no, I'm just accepting your resignation effective immediately'.

    Was I fired?

Are they going to pay you through the end of your notice period?

Question Re: Was I 'officially' terminated? CO

To the best of my knowledge, no. Heck, I probably won't even be paid for today! (Plus, company policy - since I have not been able to use my accrued PTO - I lose it!)

Does payment through the notice period make or break a resignation/termination?

If they continue to pay you, they are by all appearances respecting your resignation and notice. If not, then you can make the case that you were fired.

I don't necessarily agree. You instigated the termination of employment, not them. I don't see it as anything but a resignation.

However, in such circumstances it is possible that you may qualify for unemployment for the unpaid notice period.
