    Question J1 Visa (Au Pair)

Hi to everyone, please I would need answer for my question. I came to US as an aupair through the agency but because it didnt work out between me and my host family I canceled the contract with the agency(after 3 months) and stay at house friend of mine (7months). I didnt do anything wrong just wanted to see cultural and meet new people. I left usa before the day of expiration on my visa. Can I come back on tourist visa because I would like to see my friend again and she will send me letter of invitation or after my cancellation of letter I stayed illegal and I am no longer welcome to USA (and for how long I cannot reentered) even I left before expiration of J1 and didnt work illegal, drove car and anything what I shouldnt do. Thank you very much

You can try. If the USCIS knows you went out of status you're looking at a three year period of ineligibility to reenter, along with ineligibility for the visa waiver program (if your nation participates in that program).
