My question involves a background check in the State of: Florida
I am currently employed by the DoD as a civilian, however in 1999 I had a misdemeanor offence for Domestic (battery), the offense code is 0784.03. Since this incident I applied for federal job employment. For four years I've been hired and working for the DoD in Europe without any problems.
Because my husband is active duty military, I started looking for a new job due to moving back to the States. Consequently, I applied for a dream job with the DEA. Their HRO office contacted me last week offering me a job as an administrator, but they said I still have to go through a fingerprint background investigation.
I remember that for my current job, the DoD required a fingerprint background as well. I did this process 4 years ago, and they qualified me for my current job.
To make sure I will not have any problems getting this wonderful job with the DEA, I decided to run an online criminal background to see what it shows.
The report shows a misdemeanor-battery with an F as the offence class. What does the offence "F" class mean? I ran another report with another company and it did not give me an offence code, only the date I was arrested and the released date which was the same date.
I am worried that I will be disqualified by the DEA because of this...even though I held a federal position with the DoD, the DEA may be more strict with their qualification.
What is the possibility that the DEA will disqualify me because of this misdemeanor? Can they ignore the fact that I am currently a GS and that my job performance has been superb for the last 4 years and to attest to this, I won Civilian of the quarter twice. You think they will deny me this job because of my past?
Your thoughts will be highly appreciated.
Thank you,
Elleflower
