i am 18 and live in colorado springs, colorado. i was recently pulled over after dropping off my friends car at night. i had not consumed any alcohol or marijuana. the officer asked to search my vehicle and i agreed (even though there was no real reason) because i was certain there was nothing in my vehicle. however, upon searching my car, the officer found an eighth of an ounce of marijuana and two cans of beer. they were left there by a friend some time ago and i was unaware. obviously, since i was driving the car it will be considered mine. a week earlier i was found in possession of drug par. for a marijuana pipe. i was just wondering what im looking at. i have no other offences on my record.

The cops hear "it's my friend's... he must have forgotten it in my car," a lot. It's not very persuasive to the police even if it's true, because 99.999% of the time it's a lie. It of course doesn't help you that you were just caught with paraphernalia.

If your record is clear you're probably looking at probation with drug testing, fines, and a driver's license suspension. But you have two charges a week apart - it would be wise to consult a criminal defense lawyer.
