    Default Possible Early Probation Termination

My question involves criminal law for the state of: GA

I'm probation for a possession of a controlled substance now. I was sentenced on probation for 2 years under GA's First Offender Probation. I'm now over a year into my probation. Since I've been paying my fine on time and completed the required program, my PO decided to to write a letter/send in the paperwork for possible early termination of my probation about 2 months ago. About 20 days in after he send it in to the judge, my PO quits and now I have a new PO. Last month I call my new PO, he said he realize that he's aware of the situation and said he'll let me know if something comes back. I'm worried that if something comes back, things might get lost since my "old" PO don't work there anymore. Are things like this electronically filled or is it still in actual mail/paper?

It's been 2 months now, and I still haven't heard any news. I've been waiting for the phone to ring or something in the mail EVERYDAY (it's driving me NUTS) I might be impatience but I have a new job lined up (that requires a lot of traveling)and a possible out of country vacation that I want to do in the coming months.

Here's my questions: What are the procedures of this motion? Is it normal to take this long for it to get approve/disapprove? Do I still have to go back to court if it is approved? If I didn't hear back from the judge at all, is it a good idea to get a lawyer to file this motion again?

    Thanks

It isn't even clear that a motion has been formally submitted to the court. A "letter/paperwork" doesn't sound like a motion - it sounds like an inquiry.

How about following up with your new probation officer?

Followed up with my "new" PO this month and she said to me that she saw it on my file and will "research" into it and let me know next month

Wish me luck cuz I'm about to give up on this cuz our government "process" things like a damn snail, by the time they got this all worked out I think my probation will be over......
