My question involves criminal law for the state of: NY
I have been on misdemeanor probation for 2 out of 3 years in New York for shop lifting, until I came across some obstacles. I had no wheres to live, and my probation officer suggested I get help from welfare to get a place, but my problem was that that is a lengthy procedure, and I had no wheres to go at the time. I had no other choice but to move to Florida. I got a paper in the mail about two monthes ago saying I was violated by probation and had court last month. I did not make it for court. Anyways, something went wrong in the state of FL, bringing me back to NY. So now here I am, in NY with a warrant for my arrest. I was going to turn myself in tomorrow morning, but until then, I was just wondering what might my consequences be, and any chance they will do anything other than jail time? Thanks a lot.
