Default Car Caught Fire, Received Recall Notice Last Week

So I received a recall notice for my 97 Pontiac Grand Prix last week. I was planning on taking it to a technician to get it serviced this week. However, today my car caught fire in the engine compartment and the whole front burned to the ground. It even burned my 2 front tires and they exploded. Is there anything I can do? I only have liability insurance on it so of course that will not cover my vehicle and I can't afford to just go out and get a new one. Will Pontiac be liable?

For what reason was the vehicle being recalled?

Here's a site to search for recalls: SaferCar.gov.

GM put out a recall in April 2009 for Engine and Engine Cooling, which if conditions are as stated in the summary, would result in a car fire.

Is an auto company allowed to take this long to send out notices? Or maybe this is a follow-up notice after not having a record of service?

Make sure you have the fire and damage well documented.

If you can, store the car somewhere safe to have it examined later.
