    Default Step-Parent Adoption

My question involves adoption law for the State of: Ohio

I am planning on getting a lawyer, however I wanted to ask a few questions here see if anyone knew.

My fiance and I have been living together for over a year now. We've been together for 3.

At this point in time, my daughters father is willing to sign any adoption papers because he wants to get rid of his child support obligations. However I get nervous once he gets on track he'll change his mind.

Can we file for adoption immediately after we get married or do we have to wait? I'm trying to get the gist before I start spending a lot of money on a lawyer only to find out I have to wait a certain amount of time.

    Thanks!

    Default Re: on Step-Parent Adoption

The courts typically like it if you've been married for a year or so before filing.
