Default Selling Something That Could Be Used As a Theft Tool

My question involves business law in the state of: Florida, but technically it would be an internet business selling to the entire United States.

I've developed a device that can make a vending machine shoot out all of its coins. I have another device that can make an ATM shoot out a bunch of money.

I want to sell these tools for experimental purposes only, but I can't give everyone a background check who tries to make a purchase, it's just not cost effective.

Now given that the main idea of these tools are to break into your OWN products am I still violating a law because I'm selling something that, in the wrong hands could be used to rob machines?

You will spend the rest of your life in court, criminally and civilly.

This would fall under the criminal statutes that make it illegal to use a slug or tie a coin to a string, but on a more massive scale.

There are also laws on aiding and abetting criminal offenses.

Get permission to demonstrate it on a particular machine. Videotape it yourself and call a press conference and get the media there.

Then sell your machine with a big price tag to the vending machine companies and distributors so that they can make changes to their machines to prevent this.

That is about the ONLY way you could legally sell it without being charged with crimes by every Attorney General in virtually all states and also be sued into the ground.

How are you going to get payments on the internet. You'd get shut down by Paypal in a heartbeat. If you told a credit card merchant vendor the truth you'd never get a merchant account. If you lie, you'll get shut down and prosecuted for credit card fraud. Any money you did earn would be seized by law enforcement.

Use my suggested approach. This is kind of like the illegal hackers who turn about and sell their skills to prevent hacking, etc.

Please note: I am not a lawyer.

I would make an appointment with a lawyer for this. Your question isn't a standard answer type of question, but more complicated because of potential liability issues.

You can also ask that lawyer about how to run thorough background checks on people interested in your product...and making them pay the costs of it...

I would be very prepared to explain to law enforcement how you know it works.
