My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: ARIZONA

My husband is about to default on his student loans. He consolidated all of them 10 years ago with the DOE at 8% and is unable to refinance them or negotiate any type of interest rate reduction or reasonable settlement.

I am 2 years away from Social Security and am currently not employed (nor is my husband). All of our real estate holdings are solely in my name and were purchased as "sole and separate property".

I understand that as long as we are married any federal tax refund can be seized, but can the Government lien any of my real estate or instigate any other collection action against my future earnings, including my retirement, Social Security, or any of my real state assets?

Thank you for your help
