Exclamation Certified Mail Notice of Repair, Eviction Notice Followed

My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Tennessee, Greene County.
My family moved to a newly built home last Sept. The landlord (who owns and operates a Septic/Excavation business), has promised to install field lines since last Sept. We finally notified him by certified letter that the condition of the septic was becoming unbearable, as the waste has begun to pool up on the surface of the yard making it unusable and unable to be mowed due to the black pools of muck seeping up through the ground. The stench is overwhelming and the mosqitoes are extremely active.
We have made many cosmetic improvements to the property over the past year such as: clearing the wooded areas near the house and pond and building flowerbeds, walkways and lattice around the deck. The Mortgage Broker even took pictures of the property to show the landlord what a great job we have done so far. Our rent has always been paid as well as any bills related to our house.
Upon receipt of our letter for needed septic repairs we were promptly sent an eviction notice. My husband suffered a stroke this past Christmas and is struggling with recovery, and my youngest son (10th grade) is Autistic and will have to be moved to another School which could devastate his academic progress.
    What can we do?

Are you a month-to-month tenant, or are you leasing for a longer term? If the latter, when does your present lease end?

What grounds are described as the basis for eviction?
