My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: California
Worked per diem for 2 years then accepted a permanent position for benefits package. I was already very stressed over having to prove my self again, when a co-worker went through my email and "out of concern" reported something she found to another coworker, who in turn took me aside to tell me what had happened. He then assured me that it wasn't something I should worry about but for protocol sake I would have to speak with my supervisor about it. I had no problem with this and complied with what ever was asked of me, as I hadn't done anything wrong. But it didn't stop there. Soon after I realized that this had blown up into a whole other story because of the gossip started by this woman.
Of course I became even more stressed, broke out in hives, had more and more difficulty getting to work, finally going to the Emergency Room for medication. And inspite of my efforts to discuss this with my supervisor I was still forced to resign 1 month later due to unsatisfactory performance. Is there recourse for this?
