Default Using Pictures to File DV Charges

My question involves criminal law for the state of: California

Relationship gone bad, now my ex-girlfriend is threatening to file DV charges against me unless I pay her a large sum. We used to fight a lot, sometimes physically too. She's taken pictures of her bruises from time to time and is now claiming she has enough evidence to get me convicted. I've taken pictures of my injuries too, but she broke into my phone one time and deleted most of them.

I've moved out since, but can she really bring law suits against me anytime like that? If so, she can then blackmail me for the rest of my life?

Pictures prove only that there is bruising, not who is/was responsible for the bruising.

Ignore her or explain to her that blackmail is illegal in this country.

    And stop hitting people.

She appears to be committing extortion. That is a crime. If you wish to take a chance that you might not get charged for DV, you can report this to the police ... provided you have evidence of her threat.
