    Default Texas Apartment Tow

My question involves towing laws for the State of: Texas

A week ago my wife and I bought her a brand new car and proudly left the dealership at around 9:40 to head home.. WOO HOO

When we got to the apartment complex we parked the car under the covered parking spot that was available.

now a little background: the complex has covered and uncovered parking. the covered parking is considered reserved for tenants that have parking stickers. The uncovered parking is available to anyone who comes across it. all parking is first come, first serve.

So her car got towed the first night we owned it, for being parked under the covered parking. I SHOULD have gotten her old sticker out, but forgot to grab it, and didn't think about covered vs. uncovered parking issues that night. I am more curious about the issue we have discussed with them since, and gotten blown off.

5 nights later, I was out of town for work, and her sister was almost towed for being under the covered parking spots (she was there for less than an hour). my wife didn't realize she parked there, so didn't think to tell her not to do it.

The ONLY signs concerning being towed are on the front gate at the front of the complex. it does address vehicle's being towed for being in parking spots that are reserved for tenants, but does not discuss which spots those are. Also, there are no signs anywhere else in the complex that discuss which spots are or are not reserved. I know the covered vs. uncovered rule because I signed the lease. but the insane amount of guests that I have now met who have been towed for not having any clue about complex rules. its almost a scam.

there attitude seems to be "you'll get towed if you park in the reserved spots; but we aren't putting up signs to let you know where those spots are"

what do you guys think, and what steps should i take?

Issues for guests are separate from issues for tenants. That is, you may be on notice in your lease agreement that the covered spots are reserved, and that permits must be displayed at all times in those spots. What does your lease say?

It does address reserved parking in my lease. which is no biggie. Im ok with it. My wife and I's car getting towed was my very own mistake and no one else's. I'm more curious about our guests. They didn't sign a lease and therefore dont have any insight to the reserved parking addendum. Yet there are no signs either to notify the guests of the situation. should the apartment complex be responsible to put up some kind of sign to notify guests

Apparently the owner feels the sign out front is sufficient

Should the owners of the apartment complex spend money on signs to notify YOUR guests of what you already know ?
Is their no way to identify who IS to park in the reserves spaces ?
    Are they not marked ?

    what steps should i take?
How about forwarning your insane amount of guests ?
