    Default Can a Teen Mother in Foster Care Get Emancipated

    Hi, im 16 in foster care and have a baby. What are my chances of getting emancipated and how long would it take ?

    You have absolutely no chance whatsoever of becoming emancipated.


    It would help too if you started your own thread instead of answering this one which is quite old.

    so, if i have a job and can support myself and child i cant get emancipated because im in foster care

    You have a child. You're 16 years old. This generally tells a judge that you're not responsible enough to be living alone.

    yes but i thought there was away around it like proving to the judge over a certain amount of time that you can do it ? This is what i heard i just want to know for sure.

    No, there is no way around it. Emancipation happens very, very very rarely. It takes FAR more than just having a job.

    What you have heard is wrong. You have a better chance of sitting down next to Elvis on the bus tomorrow (credit cyjeff) than you do of being emancipated.
