My question involves criminal law for the state of: British Columbia
I'm hoping people on this site are familiar with Canadian Law.

I'm looking for legal advice. I had been recently caught shoplifting for petty theft actually worth under $15. They scanned the items and told me it was $25. I took brushes out of a set and they said I will be blamed for the entire thing. Everything was given back and nothing was damaged. They also made me sign papers to not return to their store and sister stores. Also, they also made me sign something about paying a fine. I did NOT recieve any copy of this.. I have researched online and heard that they are charging a hefty fine of $500. I am a student and I can not afford to give out money like that. They also took my picture and were very demanding of my information so much that they know where I work now. I hear that a substantial number of people haven't paid the $500 fine... mostly parents of teens and a couple over 18+ . That the lawyers "sending" out the papers are fraudulent ? I have not recieved this letter yet and scared to death as to what is goign to happen. Can someone give me any advice? There is this forum with everyone reaching out to not PAY the fine it is only for fear and profit ??

I'm sorry I know what I did was wrong I am ashamed and it is hard to look at people. please help me!
