I was arrested for shoplifting in MO. I had my court date and since it was my first time ever (and last) for something like this, I got a suspended imposition of sentence.
One year unsupervised probation, and my lawyer said, "and it won't go on your record." I was really relieved at this, but now after a few days it just got me wondering what exactly that meant.
1) Will I still want to try to have it expunged, or is it not even necessary, based on what he said?
2) Would it show up on a background check when applying for a job?
3) If so, what if I could get it expunged? Would it show up on a background check then?
