My question involves criminal law for the state of: Utah
So basically me and a couple friends were driving cross country. we happened to have some pot on us and while driving through utah were pulled over. they searched the car and found everything. however, one the kids signed a paper with the Utah state prosecutor claiming responsibility for everything in the car, and was told all charges were dropped on everyone else. However I called my lawyer and asked to get my evidence back (phone, money, other random stuff) and he told me that they could still press charges and are confiscating the money (and possibly the rest, we'r not sure) permanently. Can they really keep it? and how could they still press charges?
