    Default Getting Married and Want Citizenship

    Hello!
    I am a permannet resident like a refugee and i am bride to be. My fiance is an American man and i wonder for how long i can be married to get my citizenship after marrying a citizen? I don't want to say that i am getiing married for the purpose of marriage and i hope i'll be happy ever after but i wanna know this. Thank you!

    Default Marriage & Citizenship

    Once you have been married for at least three years, assuming your spouse has been a US Citizen for at least three years, you sould be eligible for citizenship three years after you become a Permanent Resident.

    You can apply for naturalization three months before the end of that three year period of residence.
