My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Texas
My lease requires me to give a 60 day notice of move-out. My lease expires the end of September and I went to the office today to give my move out notice as its greater than 60 days before I would move out and they would not accept it. They had written by hand into the lease I must issue my move out notice on exactly the 1st of the month 60 days in advance. They said they could only accept my move out notice on August 1st and at no time before or after. I will be out of town that day which is also a Sunday and the manager said I could have someone drop it off on that day. I'm worried if I am not there they will say they did not receive it and keep me in my lease.
It seems crazy I could not submit an intent to move out more than 60 days in advance. Is there any legal advice for this? Is this allowed?
Thanks
