Default How Do I Respond to an Unlawful Detainer

    California

I have moved out of the property in question and I just received an Unlawful Detainer Notice today. I have been out of the house for a month. The landlord went on vacation, so I was unable to return the keys/garage opener ti'l' yesterday. When I returned the keys, he acted like everything was "ok".
I contacted the landlord about the UD and he said he would cancel it. What should I do in the meantime? By the way, he never served me with a 30 day notice either.
Oh and I paid my rent on time every month for term of the lease...have the all checks to prove it.

    Thanks

He served you with an unlawful detainer, no doubt, because you chose not to return the keys in a timely manner. If he says he's not going to proceed with it now that you've done so, I have no reason to doubt his word.
