My question involves criminal law for the state of: Georgia
I have a friend who had a warrant for arrest stemming from a 2 year probation for DUI back in 1992. The warrant is for probation violation. However, neither the court nor the probation office can find the original paperwork to say why there is a probation violation, according to the attorney. This is day two that the attorney has been in contact with the court and/or probation office trying to discern the nature of the probation violation. The original probation officer is not around anymore, and the judge that signed off on the arrest warrant is retired. How many more days do you think my friend has to wait before they either find the paper work or decide to resurrect it in order for the attorney to proceed. My friend is freaking out, understandably. Please forgive me if I posted this in the wrong forum.
