My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Indiana
I signed a 4 month lease, with month-to-month status to take effect after the 4 months. My landlord has filed bankruptcy, but stated previously that he would keep the house. 2 days ago, with no warning, he left me a voice mail stating that he's giving the house back to the guy from whom he signed a land contract. I don't really mind who my landlord is, but I'm satisfied with the current terms of the lease and don't want to get into a situation where my rent is raised or where I'm forced to sign a new long-term lease. What are my rights/options? It seems that if I, the tenant, just decided to break the terms of the lease, there would be great repercussions.
