My question involves court procedures for the state of Virginia.
I need to file suit "in pro per" for non-payment on a promissory note. I have tried (2 years, 30+attys) to get an attorney, but I have no money for a retainer. I can't seem to find an example of paperwork and procedures needed to file suit in Virginia. I thought the law was supposed to be accessible to everyone regardless of income or representation, but I can't get any help.
I've tried Legal Aid - they held me up for more than a year and then told me they couldn't help. I've tried law schools, they just refer me back to Legal Aid.
The court clerks can only help in small claims, not in my case which is a principal amount of $42,000 plus penalties.
Thanks
