Default Can a House Be Left in a Dead Person's Name Indefinitely

My question involves real estate located in the State of: New Mexico

Is there a way to require authorities to examine property ownership or force probate? (I'm not an "interested party" in financial terms.) The county website lists the owner of a house as someone who passed away six years ago, and the property is currently being used as a drug house. Various arrests at the property haven't resolved the problem. Someone has been paying the property taxes. I suspect that a change in ownership will be the most permanent solution.
