Default Company Paycheck Bounced After Termination

My question involves employment and labor law for the state of: Virginia

    Hi,

I live in Virginia. I was employed by a Fortune 1000 reputed company and my job was terminated in May. The company sent me my final settlement checks amounting to about $15000. When I deposited my checks in my bank, the checks bounced.

What is the company liable to pay me (penalty, interests etc) other than the principal amount?

    Thanks in advance.

Did the check clear when you redeposited it? What did your ex-employer say when you asked (a) why the check bounced and (b) whether they would pay the bank fees?
