My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: California
I had multiple procedures at a dentist in CA. After my first one, I recieved a bill which I paid in full. Over the year, I recieved no other bills. When I would call the billing department they said my total owing was $0.00. I knew this was wrong as I have good insurance, but not that good1 year later I recieved a collection agency notice saying I owed $500 for the initial procedure (in which my bill was only $300) They had incorrectly put my account into collections. It took over 2 weeks for them to remove me and admit thier mistake.
Long story short, a year after my procedures I finally recieved a bill. I paid it in full, but the would not accept my payment and returned it saying I owed $400 less. Then over the course of a week, I called daily and each time was told I owe a different amount.
It has been 1.5months and they will not give me an itemized bill that shows procedure dates/payments/insurance and what I owe. They emailed me an amount I owe, and what insurance has paid (not itemized just 1 amount) and the insurance they claim to have recieved is less than what my insurance has paid them. I do not want to pay them as they keep giving me different amounts I want an actual bill I can pay so I can compare it with my insurance/dates etc.
I keep requesting an itemzied bill yet they will not produce one for me.
In California, is there any law that says I have the right to recieve an itemzied bill for services?
