This question isn't about any actual criminal charges but to possibly avoid one.
When we were kids back in the 70's we had darts for our air rifles and taught the proper usage of weapons. Both us and the adults used them for target practice and small game hunting without all the legal bothers of firearms licensing.
We liked these because it was safer than a .22 or shot guns since buckshot is a wall of lead that will blow a mile or two past the game as will a .22 by going straight through it but our ammunition stayed with the game, were reusable and didn't lead pollute by landing on the ground miles away.
For that purpose, it was the ammunition substituted for steel bb's and lead pellets that made the .177 as effective as a .22.
Our darts were similar this but were couple inches long but I forget who made them.

I haven't been able to find the darts we used but I do find darts available for blow guns.

There's little difference between these and the ones we used back in the 70's except the heads on the ones we had were .177
I guess my question would be about any possible ammunition modification laws that may prevent these blow gun darts from being put on a lathe and honed down to .177 for target practice and small game hunting.
I guess my second question would be about ammunition manufacturing as if it is illegal to hone these down would it be legal to make such long .177 darts like this from scratch?
It's been so long since the 70's I don't know if they may have been banned or they just stopped making them for lack of popularity.
So is it legal to modify these or make them from scratch?
