My question involves a traffic citation from the state of: Washington
Was traveling north on 405 near Kirkland (85th St. exit) and was pulled over via a speed trap. There was an officer with a radar or laser gun posted on the left side of the road and several state patrol vehicles pulling folks over on the right side.
I was pulled over and cited for speeding. Officer asked if I knew how fast I was going and I said "no." He said I was going 79 in a 60 but he was going to write me up for 65 in a 60. I didn't know how fast I was going but was in a hurry and certainly didn't think it was going to be worth arguing with him.
He started to hand me the ticket and then noticed it was wrong. He had written that I was going 65 in a 70. Realizing he'd made a mistake, he corrected it on the ncr copy to 55 in a 60. I didn't look at it until I got home.
Wait a minute. It's neither illegal to do 65 in a 70 nor 55 in a 60. What he meant to write was 65 in a 60 but screwed it up twice. He undoubtedly corrected it yet again when he got back to his vehicle.
I plan on contesting the ticket. Any advice on how to do so?
Thanks in advance!
