    Default Social Security Opt Out

Hi everyone, hope this doesn't sound weird.
I am 80 years old living in Southern California. I receive my own Social security, SSI, housing assistance and medical.
My ex husband passed away in late May. I never gave any thoughts about survivor benefits.
I went to the bank on Friday and found a bump to the SS deposit due to the survivor benefits. The extra money has put me over the qualifying limits for SSI, housing and medical.
My question, is there a way to opt out of the survivor benefits? I stand to lose so much from the little amount of extra money and wont be able to cover or pay my own way.

    Thanks
    80

Yours is a sufficiently unusual inquiry that I doubt that you're going to find an easy answer, but I am sure it's precedented. Have you tried talking to a case worker at the Social Security Administration?
